This Summer a building was torn down on Hamilton St in downtown Palo Alto exposing two advertising murals that had been hidden for over half a century. The Veedol Oil and Palo Alto's Color Center murals were originally hand painted and have been remarkably well preserved, protected from the sun and the elements. The headquarters of Facebook.com has been  errected on the spot, and presumably, the murals have been covered for another 100 years.  The murals capture a past when advertising was bold and beautiful, and supported a group of sign painters in their chosen craft.
